On November 26, 2014, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Independent Documentary Producer’s Association (IDPA) and DD National. The objective of the MoU is to showcase documentary films from across the country and to pay substantially to the documentary makers in order to help them to recover their cost to an extent, as the documentary film makers are the educators of future, what they are capturing today will be past of history tomorrow. IDPA proposes to promote the documentary films which have an educational purpose like Swachhta Abhiyan, women’s and children’s health, environment conservation etc. in partnership with the government as well as banks/institutions under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). IDPA also proposes to create a Welfare Trust for Independent Producers to help documentary film makers in times of crises and to create IDPA centres in states for regular screening of documentary films.
