When India lost its one of the ever time best jurist and judicial conscience on December 4, 2014, the Kerala Law Academy  lost its backbone and mentor. Justice VR Krishna Iyer was the President of the Executive Committee of the Kerala Law Academy for a long period and he continued in that position till his death. Justice Krishna Iyer was an all time mentor and immense supporter of the KLA and the Law College from its beginning itself. His support  helped a lot to establish the institution in the year 1967.

In a condolence meeting held at the College campus, the management, teaching and non teaching staffs and students of the College paid tributes to Justice Krishna Iyer. The meeting was inaugurated by Justice M.R. Hariharan Nair, former Judge, High Court of Kerala. Justice Hariharan Nair said that the approach taken by Krishna Iyer to the common man of this country and his dedication to the constitution, made him a memorable Judge of the Supreme Court even after the three decades of his retirement. The Conference Hall at the College Campus is named as Justice VR Krishna Iyer Memorial Hall and the same was announced by Dr. N. Narayanan Nair, the Secretary of the Kerala Law Academy and Director of the College. Dr. N.K. Jayakumar, former VC of NUALS Kochi remembered his experiences with Krishna Iyer. Adv. Ayyappan Pillai, the Vice President of KLA presided over the meeting. Dr. Lekshmi P. Nair and Adv. Vazhuthacaud Narendran were also present.
