On 12.08.2015, four Memorandum of Understandings were signed between Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Power & Ministries of New & Renewable Energy and their organizations for cooperation in the areas of Electricity Transmission, Energy Conservation and promotion of Renewable Energy in a time bound manner.
- MoU between Ministry of Power and Ministry of Railways- to boost knowledge sharing on various developments in the power sector to reduce the cost of electricity for the Railways.
- MOU between Ministry of Railways and Ministry of New & Renewable Energy- for cooperation in the Renewable Energy to bring in a change in the energy mix & Solarization of Railways.
- MOU between Ministry of Railways and Bureau of Energy Efficiency- for cooperation in the area of Energy Conservation to identify technologies to further improve efficient utilization of Energy on Railways.
- MoU between Railway Energy Management Company (REMC) and Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EES) – for implementation of energy efficient systems and conservation of energy projects for the Railways.
These MoUs will provide a frame work for providing future solutions in the power sectors and facilitate Railways bring a change in the energy mix. It will help Indian Railways to reduce the cost of power and energy bill by saving energy.
