Union of India (1995). Progressive decisions of the Supreme Court constitutes welcome developments in what has been a long march towards gender equality and ensuring a Uniform Civil Code. However, It appears that even after many decades and attempts by Supreme Court, the legislators of country were not in a mood to retrieve Article 44 from the cold storage where it is lying since 1949.
