Sub: Priority to be given to settlement of death case claim settlements within 7 days -Directions given by PM during pragati review meeting held on 26.10.2016.
The Hon’ble Prime Minister has during the PRAGATI review meeting taken on 26.10.2016 shown his concern regarding delay in settlement of EPF/EPS/EDLI claims especially in death cases. You are hereby instructed to ensure that all death cases claims submitted by spouse/nominee/legal heir of EPF member be invariably settled within a period of 7 days from date of submission of claim form in concerned field office where the deceased members accounts are being maintained. In case of pension claims, where PPO is to be issued from offices other than where the account of the deceased member is being maintained, the total period taken for settlement of such claim should also not exceed 7 days. It will be joint responsibility of OICs of both the concerned offices to issue PPO within 7 days.
The PRO and officials in the Facilitation Centre should be instructed to scrutinise the claim forms received in respect of death cases and guide the claimants for submission of all required documents in one attempt only. For this purpose one official may be trained in the Facilitation Centre and deputed to look after death case claims with proper display in this regard made on the seat/counter. “Please contact for death cases” in Hindi, Regional Language and English. All death case claims must invariable be stamped as “DEATH CASE – TOP PRIORITY”. The Official in Charge of all field offices shall personally monitor the death case on day to day basis.
