Mooting is an important part of a student’s life in law school, and to hone the talent and skills of young mooters who have only started with their journey in law, USLLS has endeavoured to provide them a suitable platform with this moot court competition. University School of Law and Legal Studies, GGSIPU, New Delhi successfully organised the 3rd All India USLLS First Year Students’ Moot Court Competition for first year students of various law schools in India from 18th to 20th November, 2016. The competition was judged by eminent legal personalities and the final round consisted of a five-judge bench headed by Hon’ble Mr. Justice V.K. Shali (Former Judge, Delhi High Court) and others were Dr. Harvir Singh (H.J.S, Registrar), Prof. Nuzhat Parveen Khan (Dean, Jamia Milia Islamia Law School), Prof. B.T. Kaul (CLC, DU) and Prof. M Afzal Wani (Dean, University School of Law and Legal Studies).
The moot proposition was based on Law of Contracts, and the issue in question was the general offer coupled with acceptance by a minor. The cap on the number of teams for this year’s edition was kept at 30. The engagement and excitement shown by the teams was unmatched. The winners of the competition were felicitated by the dignitaries with the trophies and other prizes. All the participants were awarded a medal with an objective to encourage the good work displayed by them.

Best Researcher: Aafreen Choudhary from Army Institute of Law, Mohali
Best Student Advocate: Aishwarya S. Manchate from M.S. Ramaiah College of Law, Bengaluru
Justice V.K. Shali in his valedictory speech appreciated the idea of conducting a national level moot court competition for the first year students and highlighted the importance of the same. Also, he was impressed with the level of knowledge and mooting skills displayed by the new entrants from across India.
