The Centre for Study of United Nations, OP Jindal Global University invites you to a Public Lecture on ‘Working for the United Nations’ by Sam Daws, Director, Project on UN Governance and Reform University of Oxford on 19th March.
Short Bio of Speaker: Sam Daws is Director of the Project on UN Governance and Reform at the University of Oxford. A dual British and Australian national, he has worked in UN-related roles for 30 years. In 2012-13, he served as Deputy Director (United Nations) in the British Cabinet Office, advising the Prime Minister in his role as Co-chair of the UN Sustainable Development Goals panel. Mr Daws has a broad interest in Indian foreign policy, geopolitical change, innovation in global governance (UN, G20, BRICS, AIIB etc.), diplomacy, conflict management, climate change, and the challenges and opportunities arising from the rapid pace of scientific and technical change. From 2000 to 2003 he served as First Officer in the Executive Office of UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan in New York.
He has authored or co-edited 14 books on the UN, including The Oxford Handbook on the United Nations and The Procedure of the UN Security Council, (both published by Oxford University Pressj. He currently serves as a Social Impact Industry Advisor to Oxford’s said Business School. He is also Director of the consultancy 3D Strategy which helps governments, companies and foundations navigate the politics and processes of the UN and other international institutions.
