Centre for Management Studies, NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad organized the Leadership Summit – Led by Women at Hotel Park Hyatt, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad on March 17th, 2018. The event, celebrating the evolving leadership of women in diverse roles in the contemporary society has received tremendous response from distinguished participants and dignitaries.
Smt. K Kavitha, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Nizamabad District, Telangana State was the Chief Guest and delivered an inspiring speech on “Celebrating Women as Champions of Change”. She encouraged young women to speak up for their rights as well as against the social evils they encounter. She passionately addressed issues of security for women, domestic violence and the need for clean drinking water that the government is working on. Ms. Sagarika Ghose, Consulting Editor, Times Group was the Guest of Honor and delivered a powerful discourse on ‘Courage to Lead: Inner Dimensions of Leadership’. She shared her personal experiences and explained the importance of standing up for what people believe in. She stressed on the need for solidarity among women as the need of the hour.
Mr. Kali Prasad Gadiraju, President, TiE Hyderabad and Office Managing Partner, Ernst & Young had addressed the gathering on “Becoming a Person of Influence” by sharing the top five qualities he had observed and applauded in women working around him in his 35 years of career i.e. Having clarity of purpose, focus on the task, structured thinking, reliability and having superior emotional quotient made it to his list. Prof. Amita Dhanda, Professor of Law, NALSAR addressed the gathering on “Feminism and the way forward” and opened up the discussion on “Feminisms are the way forward” implying there are many point of views of feminist thinking which necessitates a more inclusive developmental model. Ms. Karuna Gopal, Smart Cities Advisor to Asia Pacific Nations spoke about how to position ourselves for the next big opportunity. With examples from her experiences, she strongly suggested women to not market or position themselves but focus on working hard to create a versatile brand that the world itself will entitle you with. Prof. Dr. Faizan Mustafa delivered the Welcome Address.
The panel appreciated the effort of CMS, NALSAR in organizing the ‘Leadership Summit – Led by women’, as an attempt to offer an opportunity to learn from, and be inspired by, such globally recognized women who are pioneers in championing the cause of women empowerment and to flourish in our rapidly changing business world. The Summit in collaboration with TiE Hyderabad and CII-IWN Hyderabad focused on shared learning, by providing a forum to recognize, inform, and celebrate the contribution of women.
Many renowned guests like Ms. Aruna Bahuguna, Former Chief, National Defence Academy, Ms. Christina Francis, Editor, Times of India Metro Supplements, Ms. Vanita Datla, Former Chairperson CII, Vice Chairman – Elico Ltd., and like also spoke at the event. The event witnessed participation from leaders and managers from top tier companies and members from CII-Indian Women Network and TiE Hyderabad.
