UPDATE
Ex-BJP MLA Kuldeep Sengar accused of raping a minor in Unnao in the year 2017 has been now convicted and found guilty of raping the minor.
The verdict was pronounced by District & Sessions Judge Dharmesh Sharma, proceedings were held in camera. The judge heard the case on a daily basis from August 5 after it was transferred from a court in Lucknow to Delhi on Supreme Court’s directions.
Court has acquitted another accused Shashi Singh. Arguments on the sentencing to held on 19-12-2019.
As reported by ANI, the Delhi Court is likely to pronounce its decision in the 2017 Unnao Rape Case against the Ex BJP MLA Kuldeep Sengar.
Tis Hazari Court, New Delhi had framed charges in the said case.
The charge sheet filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on October 3 had revealed that the rape survivor was allegedly kidnapped and raped for nine days at different places by three persons when she was a minor in 2017.
The court had earlier passed the order on an FIR related to Arms Act and custodial death of survivor’s father. It has clubbed both the Arms Act case and the death in custody case after observing several witnesses are same and incidents are connected.
The court had also observed that the accused carried out a series of acts to detain and silence him so that he does not pursue his complaint.
The Verdict is awaited by the Delhi Court and is likely to be pronounced today.
