An Idea of a Law School: A Place of Transformative Legal Education in India
On Thursday, 9th of January 2020 from 3.00 pm to 4.30 pm at the Allen & Overy Conference Hall.
The setting up of the National Law School in Bangalore in the late 1980s was a remarkably unself – conscious experiment in educating a new breed of ‘social engineers’ and an institution that billed itself ‘Harvard of the East’. This event marks the publication of ‘An Idea of a Law School, Ideas from The Law School’ [Edited by Dr. Madhava Menon, Murali Neelakantan and Sumeet Malik, Eastern Book Company (EBC), Lucknow] – a volume which examines the scope and impact of a catalytic revolution in legal education in India marked by the establishment of the ‘law school’ by Dr. N R Madhava Menon.
The following panel will release and discuss the book:
Panelists:
Dr. Aditya Sondhi, Senior Advocate
Prof. Kamala Sankaran, Former Vice Chancellor, TNNLU, Tiruchirappalli.
