After the successful culmination of the project Eklavya in 2019, CAN Foundation announced its Flagship Project Dhananjay on the Republic Day.

ABOUT THE PROJECT: Project Dhananjay is essentially about providing an “incubatory period” to budding, meritorious law graduates (from Economically Weaker Families), who have the potential to raise the standards of Bar in multiple ways. Under this project, a monthly stipend will be provided to the Scholars who are selected by a High-Powered Expert Panel after a month long 2 tier selection process. The Monthly Stipend, is aimed as a “sustenance allowance” for the initial 1 year (or 2 years) of their practice in Courts of law.

Dhananjay’s initial incubatory support to budding law graduates is aimed at dispelling their apprehension and anxieties of uncertain and risky path of litigation. The Project aims at bridging the divide between that class of law graduates, who have background, with their entire pedigree waiting for them to step in the legal profession, vis-a-vis such NLU graduates, who are complete novices in the legal profession without any frontal or rear support lacking the financial wherewithal to even think of stepping into litigation. Dhananjay envisions projecting these candidates as the future of Indian Courts, attempting at the same time to develop the potential and capacity (in them) to be either a roaring Senior Advocate (of wherever he settles in life) like the legendary Nani Palkiwala or a Jurist of the makes of Late Justice Shri H.R. Khanna.
