About the College

The Government Law College Mumbai, established in 1855, has the distinction of being the oldest Law College in Asia, dating even prior to the University of Mumbai, and enjoys a pre-eminent reputation for excellence in the field of legal education. Government Law College or GLC, as it is popularly known, continues to be an institution exclusively for the students of law.

About the Committee

The Alternative Dispute Resolution Cell (ADRC) was founded in 2016 with a vision to promote the understanding of various forms of ADR and familiarizing the students with the intricacies of Alternative Dispute Resolution. The ADRC strives to foster an ADR culture amongst the students, believing that the emergence of ADR will reduce the burden on the Indian Judiciary. The Cell promotes the ADR culture amongst the students by organising various workshops and lectures conducted by experts; publishing a quarterly e-newsletter containing news, articles and interviews for students wishing to pursue their career in this field; and hosting the ADR Weekend – the Cell’s annual two-day event which comprises of a series of Seminars and Workshops, aimed at not only informing but instilling a perspective, an attitude and aptitude for resolving disputes among the students.

About the Competition

The Alternative Dispute Resolution Cell is proud to announce the GLC National ADR Triathlon on 15th and 16th February 2020 in association with MZM Legal as our title sponsors. The competition is institutionally supported by the esteemed AIDR and Valenti Law. Furthermore, the competition is also supported by Crawford Bayley & Co. as our associate sponsors, IMC Chamber of Commerce and Industry as our venue sponsors, Nishith Desai Associates and Zerick Dastur Advocates and Solicitors as our award sponsor, SCC Online and Eastern Book Company (EBC) as our Knowledge and Research Partners.

As a first of its kind competition, the GLC National ADR Triathlon envisages the progression of a dispute in real-life scenarios. In which each team shall have 3 members, and each member shall be compulsorily participating in at least one of the rounds.

  • The first round would be a Client Counselling Round, in which a pair of Counsels for each team shall be provided with an in-house client.
  •  The second round would consist of a Negotiation segment
  • The third and last round would consist of Mediation.

All the three rounds would be scored cumulatively to be adjudged winners.

The Areas of law for Client Counselling are Companies law; Insolvency and bankruptcy law; RERA; Intellectual Property Right law.
