The Daksha Fellowship is India’s first law, policy and business fellowship program for young lawyers, public policy professionals and other graduates with a background in law. The fellowship has been co-created by Mr KV Ramani, a software industry veteran and founding member of NASSCOM, and Dr Pramath Raj Sinha, a renowned expert in higher education associated with many prestigious programs.
The Daksha Fellowship is a one-year, residential program with a contemporary curriculum formulated by renowned faculty and leading legal experts. The program will be based in Chennai. The innovative pedagogy for the program — which includes workshops, labs and bootcamps — has been conceptualized to equip scholars with specialised knowledge and practical skills through a series of legal and non-legal courses.
Daksha is the first law fellowship in India to offer sector-specific specialisations, and aims to prepare scholars for the future. Students can choose to specialise amongst three pathways: Technology Law and Policy, Law and Regulation, and Disputes Resolution. All scholars selected for the fellowship will also participate in industry internships with leading organizations, and in a global immersion program at an international partner institution. In brief, this program aspires to do for lawyers what the Indian School of Business has done in the world of business education — prepare them for a rapidly evolving digital world.
“Our fellowship program is a pioneering effort, exclusively crafted for lawyers, that will focus on imparting specialised knowledge, experiential learning, and well-rounded perspectives on technology, policy and business,” explains Dr Sinha.
By combining academic rigour with top-notch curriculum design, industry exposure and global engagement, the Daksha Fellowship aims to prepare young lawyers for success in the modern world of commerce, regulation and policy. The fellowship program is being advised by India’s top legal experts like Sriram Panchu, Arvind Datar, Justice BN Srikrishna, Rahul Matthan and Justice G Raghuram, and industry luminaries like NR Narayana Murthy and Mohandas Pai.
The academic program for the Daksha Fellowship is being directed by Dr Ananth Padmanabhan. He is supported by well-known academicians and legal practitioners, including Dr Madhav Khosla, Suhrith Parthasarathy, NS Nappinai and Chitra Narayan.
Applications for the Daksha Fellowship are open, and the selection of scholars will be made through an entrance test and interview. Up to 100% tuition fee waivers will be granted to meritorious applicants. More details on the Daksha Fellowship, including the program brochure, are available at https://www.dakshafellowship.org
