Karnataka High Court: A Division Bench of Abhay Shreeniwas Oka, CJ and E.S. Indiresh, J. posed question to the State of Karnataka as to:
“what measures State proposes to take for implementation of the guidelines of the Government of India as well as SOPs governing the places of religion, hotels, restaurants, shopping malls etc.?”
Petitioners contention was that the National Directives of COVID-19 Management not being followed.
In addition to the above, it was submitted that, in the State of Karnataka places of religion/ places of worship, hotels, restaurants and shopping malls have also been opened.
Court posed the question before State on what measures it proposes to take for implementation of the guidelines of the Government of India as well as SOPs governing the places of religion, hotels, restaurants, shopping malls etc.
Further, the bench asked the State to record :
- whether a grievance redressal mechanism has been created enabling a citizen to lodge a complaint regarding violation of the guidelines and especially, the rules relating to use of masks, maintaining social distancing, etc.
- whether it is possible for a citizen to lodge a complaint by use of his/her cell phone after noticing the breaches so that action can be immediately taken by the State authorities.
