Strawberry Fields provides an incredible platform for semi-professional and college bands to compete and showcase their talent to a live audience of thousands of music enthusiasts. Despite the pandemic, they hope to address social distancing concerns and continue the annual tradition of Strawberry Fields by shifting the show online. They see this as an opportunity to extend the reach of the event beyond all territorial limits, like never before. Keeping the trying situations in mind due to COVID-19, the team has reduced the registration fee and increased the threshold of the number of bands to 50.
This year, the festival has got international headlining acts like Tangerine Stoned and Khan, along with acts from Indian artists like Cinema Of Excess, Haiku-Like Imagination and past year’s winner Spotlight. This year’s headlining acts show a lot of diversity in their music, ranging from post hardcore/math rock, to country music.
In connection with its goal to promote original music, Strawberry fields has served as the launch pad to both fame and success for many of the most respected bands in the independent music scene. Bands like Thermal and a Quarter, Demonic Resurrection and Mother Jane began their journey to success after winning at Strawberry Fields.
You can stream the entire event online through Skillbox. The preliminary round performances and two headlining acts (Khan and Tangerine Stoned) would be streamed on 9th. The final rounds and the remaining three headlining acts (Cinema of Excess, Haiku-like Imagination and Spotlight) would be streamed live on 10th January. The headliners for 10th January would also be playing live for the show at Rasta Café as MG Road. The gig can be attended for a fee of just Rs. 100/-
With the festival around the corner, you can expect a good weekend, filled with some good vibe and music.
