The Alternative Dispute Resolution Board, NLSIU is organizing the VII National Law School – Negotiation, Mediation and Client Counselling Competition (VII NLS NMC) from 28th April to 2nd May, 2021.

The National Law School of India University was established in the year 1988. It signified the culmination of efforts by the Judiciary, the Bar Council of India, the Karnataka Bar Council, the Bangalore University and the Government of Karnataka to reform legal education and to establish a centre of excellence for legal education and research in India. Who are we?
The VII NLS NMC is being organized by the Alternative Dispute Resolution Board, NLSIU in association with the International Negotiation Competition (INC). The competition is one of Asia’s largest ADR events and one of the only global events to conduct Negotiation, Mediation and Client Counselling simultaneously.
Started in 2015, NLS NMC has garnered a reputation as an event that adheres to the highest standards. In the past, we have seen the participation of over 300 students from across the world in our various segments. The judging at NLS NMC involves a stellar panel of judges consisting of professionals, academicians, lawyers, and mediators, who carefully assess the participants to help them enhance their skills. Their valuable feedback, coupled with our training workshops go a long way in providing our participants with an arsenal to perform their best at ADR.
Can I mark my calendar?
The dates for the competition are April 28 – May 02, 2021. It will be hosted virtually over the video conferencing platform, Zoom.
What does this have to do with INC?
The Negotiation Segment of the competition serves as the National Qualifier for the International Negotiation Competition (INC). Accordingly, the winner of the Negotiation segment will represent India at the International Negotiation Competition 2020, Montana, USA. Accordingly, this segment is only open to Indian Teams.
I’m interested. How do I sign up?
The selection of Universities for all four segments will happen in one round of applications, based on the performance of the University at ADR competitions, their ADR curriculum and related criteria.
Details regarding deadlines, team compositions and eligibility can be found in the Structure Document. Everyone is requested to go through the document before applying. The document can be found here.
Slots in each segment will be offered to different Universities on the basis of their application in that particular segment.
The VII NLS NMC has 4 segments: Negotiation, Mediation (Client Attorney), Mediation (Mediator) and Client Counselling. The Application Forms for each of the segments can be found here.

How long do I have to make up my mind?
The Application Process for the VI NLS NMC will begin on 25th February, 2021. Kindly note that for this edition, registration will happen in a single round. The last date to apply is 17th March 2021.
