NMIMS, Bengaluru organised 2nd National Virtual Moot Court Competition, 2021

Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, School of Law, Bengaluru had organised its 2nd National Virtual Moot Court Competition in collaboration with S.S Rana and Co. The 3 day competition was a grand success and ended with an outstanding round between Banaras Hindu University and Faculty of Law, Delhi University. While both the teams gave an excellent performance, BHU took home the winning title. The Final round was judged by one of the best legal luminaries Tanu Banerjee, Partner in Khaitan and Co.; Siddharth Chopra, Partner at Saikrishna and Associates; Geeta Luthra, Senior Advocate at the Supreme Court of India and Vice President of the Indian Council of Arbitration; Additional Solicitor General Aishwarya Bhati, Senior Advocate at the Supreme Court of India; and Nihit Nagpal, Partner at SS Rana and Co.

 

The opening and closing ceremony of this competition was graced by the one and only Justice C K Thakkar, retired judge of the Supreme Court and a distinguished author. His words were extremely inspiring for all the students present in the ceremony, and it was an honour to have such an illustrious guiding light at the start and end of our competition. Justice C K Thakkar also congratulated the teams and praised the Moot Court Society of NMIMS School of Law, Bengaluru, for organising such a great competition with 75 teams from different institutions from all over the country.

 

Banaras Hindu University won the competition and will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 81,000, along with an internship opportunity at S.S. Rana and Co., a knockout plan from SkillxPro, one year complimentary subscription to SCC Online Web Edition to each member of the team. Runners up, Faculty of Law, Delhi University, will be awarded a cash prize of Rs. 41,000 along with a knockout plan from SkillxPro. Rini Mehra from Faculty of Law, Delhi University was adjudicated the ‘Best Speaker’ and will get a prize money of Rs.11,000. ‘Best Memorial’ was award to Government New Law College, Indore, and shall be awarded with a cash prize of Rs. 11,000.

 

We would like to congratulate all the winners on their exemplary performance and would like to thank all the judges who took out some time from their busy schedules to help up with the Moot. Overall, the competition was a immense success.
