Government notifies sporting events of national importance

On May 09, 2022, the Central Government has notified the following events as sporting events of national importance.

They are:

1. All Olympics Games
2. Commonwealth Games
3. Asian Games
4. Events relating to the following sports,-
   

• • Cricket
    (i) All official One-Day, Twenty-20 and Test matches played by the Indian Men’s and Women’s Cricket Team and all International Cricket Council Test matches featuring India;
    (ii) Semi-finals and finals of International Cricket Council Men’s and Women’s One-Day International World Cup;
    (iv) Semi-finals and finals of International Cricket Council Men’s and Women’s Twenty-20 World Cup;
    (v) All Semi-finals and finals of International Cricket Council Champions Trophy (One Day);
    (vi) All Semi-finals and finals of International Cricket Council World Test Championship;
    (vii) Semi-finals and finals of International Cricket Council Men’s and Women’s Asia Cup (Twenty -20 and One-Day International) ; and
    (viii) India playing matches, Semi-finals and finals of Under-19 World Cup.
  • Tennis
    (i) Davis Cup-All matches featuring India;
    (ii) Grand Slam Tournaments,-Finals of Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles and all matches featuring Indian player from quarter-finals onwards; and

(iii) Grand Slam Tournaments, – All such matches featuring Indian player in men’s doubles, Women’s doubles or Mixed doubles from quarter-finals onwards.

• • Hockey
    (i) World Cup – All matches featuring India and semi-finals and finals;
    (ii) Champions Trophy – All matches featuring India and finals;
    (iii) Indira Gandhi Gold Cup for Women-Semi-finals and finals;
    (iv) Hockey India Sub-Junior National Championship and Hockey India Academy National Championship;
    (v) Hockey Men’s Junior Men World Cup*;
    (vi) Sultan Azlan Shah Cup- All matches featuring India, Semi-finals and finals; and
    (vii) International Hockey Federation (FIH) – Hockey Pro League matches.
    
  • Football
    (i) World Cup – Opening match, Quarter finals, Semi-finals and finals;
    (ii) Asia Cup – All matches featuring India and semi-finals and finals;
    (iii) Santosh Trophy – Semi-finals and finals;
    (iv) Asian Women’s Football Cup*;
    (v) Under-17 Federation Internationale de Football Association Women’s World Cup*; and
    (vi) World Cup (Under – 17) – Opening match, Quarter finals, Semi-finals and finals.
  • Badminton
    (i) All England Open Badminton Championship – All matches featuring Indian players, Semi- finals and finals;
    (ii) Badminton World Federation World Cup Championship – All matches featuring Indian players, semi-finals and finals.
  • Kabaddi World Cup – All matches featuring India, semi-finals and finals.
  • Khelo India Games
    (i) Khelo India Games;
    (ii) Khelo India School Games;
    (iii) Khelo India Youth Games;
    (iv) Khelo India University Games;
    (v) Khelo India Games for differently abled persons;
    (vi) Khelo India Games for Indigenous Sports; and
    (vii) Khelo India Winter Games.
  • Other Events
    (i) International Shooting Sport Federation World Cup Event*;
    (ii) Commonwealth Shooting Championship*;
    (iii) Commonwealth Archery Championship*; and
    (iv) International events organized by National Sports Federations recognized by the Government of India.
