This recruitment season, the graduating batch of 2022 from National Law University Odisha (NLUO) has secured a total of 47 jobs so far. Despite the pandemic downturn, 78 per cent of the current batch got placed which is a 38.2 per cent increase from the placements of batch of 2016-21.

A total of 60 students took part in the recruitment process this year. 37 students were placed with leading domestic law firms. 5 students were placed with corporations, advisory firms and consultation firms. 3 students were placed with litigation chambers and 2 students with research platforms and policy think tanks. The highest package stood at 17 Lakhs per annum while the median package stood at Rs 10 Lakhs per annum.

NLUO has made for itself a reputation among the premier legal educations’ institutes and the legal fraternity of being a name to reckon with. With a growing alumnus base, a strong teaching staff and a brilliant student body famous among law schools for its mooting culture, it is no surprise that recruitment numbers have steadily shown an increase year after year since the first batch passed out in 2014, despite the location of the institute not being in the most famous of cities or in close proximity to recruiters.

Apart from these, several 2022 batch graduates are currently preparing for competitive exams including civil services, judiciary exams and CAT. Two students have also secured admission to Georgetown University, Washington DC and King’s College London for further studies. Another student secured the Legislative Assistant to Members of Parliament (LAMP) Fellowship for the year 2022-23.

Despite the serious setback suffered due to the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Recruitment Coordination Committee (RCC) 2022 continued to conduct the online placement drive by coordinating interviews and contacting new recruiters through the online modes, offering a renewed hope in these extraordinarily trying times.

The student members of RCC 2022 were Aanchal Khandelwal, Abhishek Gupta, Achyutam Bhatnagar, Anuj Jain, Ayush Sharma, Harsha Tiwari, Moulika Diwakar, Nitya Khanna, Rishika Rishi Jain, Rituparna Padhy, Shubham Shivansh, and Sugandhi Jain. The administration, comprising the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Ved Kumari, the Registrar, Prof. Dr. Yogesh Pratap Singh and the faculty advisors, Dr. Arjyalopa Mishra (Assistant Professor of Management), Dr. Mayank Tiwari (Assistant Professor of Law) and Mr. Kallola Kumar Patanaik (Assistant Registrar), played a key role in facilitating the overall recruitment drive.

Beyond these statistics, nine students from junior batch of 2018-23 who are currently pursuing their final year have already been offered PPOs with Saraf and Partners, Trilegal and Phoenix Legal and Spice Route Legal. Further, four students have also secured campus placement offers with IndusLaw.

The batch of 2018-23 is open for further recruitment opportunities and offers.
