We at Amity Law School (AUUP), Noida with great exultation and excitement present to you our venerated event, the 12th Edition of Amity International Moot Court Competition for the year 2022. Every year, Amity extends a new and stimulating moot problem and this year beholds no other exception. Yet again, we are back with another thrilling proposition.
Over the past editions, Amity International Moot Court Competition has been accorded stunning reception from its participants and audience, owing to the involvement of acclaimed National and International Universities at the top of their capabilities, along with an adjudging brilliant panel of judges, splendid in their alcove field, assembled from across the continents for the benediction of the teams, whether in participation or winning the competition.
Amity Law School holds Moot Court Competitions in high regard for helping students achieve greater heights in their pursuit of a successful legal career, guiding them to hone their skills, and providing them with a platform to sharpen their expertise for the real world.
We hope, this competition benefits students to elevate and leverage their maximum potential in terms of public speaking, research, advocacy, written and oral skills, while also placing them in a scenario where they can administer their mental acuity and interpretation adroitness gained from theoretical knowledge into practical certainties.

DAY 1

Keeping in mind these words of wisdom, our hearts are filled with delight as we joyously welcome you to the onset of the 12th Edition Amity International Moot Court Competition 2022, where every participant aspires to compete, learn and excel in this distinctive expedition.
10:05 hrs – Behold, as the wait has finally ended! We officially begin with the preliminary rounds of the 12th Amity International Moot Court Competition 2022 in virtual mode. The teams have impended with finest of their creative composition

10:10 hrs – Courtroom 6 has officially begun with the session. With much contingency, the rules for the competition have been introduced before all the participants in an elaborate and comprehensive format.
10:15 hrs – Developments begin in Courtroom 6 as the Bench has already instituted questions of much equity and diligence towards the petitioners.
10:20 hrs – In Courtroom 11 we encounter that the prosecutor has meticulously put forward his arguments. The participants have unfurled their points of view on the concerned subject matter with full conviction and virtuous portrayal.
10:30 hrs – After a fascinating demonstration of their submissions, the petitioners in Courtroom 10 requested an extension of 10 minutes to the allotted time limit to conclude their arguments.
10:35 hrs – The bench puts forward resilient questions to the speakers. But, it seems the speakers have handled the barrage of questions with a lot of grace. The grasp of the law and its application is of much applause.
10:45 hrs – As the time runs out, the Petitioners argue their points expeditiously. Within the scrunched time frame, in order to represent their contentions to its apical testament, after acquiring acquiescence from the respected bench, the petitioners of Courtroom 4 have been granted an extension.
10:50 hrs – Subsequently, when the petitioner rightfully secured a supplemented insertion of time to enunciate their arguments, the respondents all buckled up to extend their contentions before the learnt alcalde.
10:55 hrs –The rounds in the courtrooms attested to the competing team’s showcase of certain incredibly precise reasoning and configuration of facts to retain the case to their merit. Throughout the session, the teams displayed a high level of engagement and decadence.
11:00 hrs IST – The teams have landed in the ring of resilience and competence as the arguments portrayed imply a staggering geometric increase for the opponents as the bar seems to be outstretching beyond perception.
11:05 hrs IST – The judges have continued to recurrently question throughout the demonstration. The intrigue rises in the courtrooms as we all descend towards the institution of Rebuttal and Sur-rebuttal rounds.
11:15 hrs IST – As the Respondents end with pleading their arguments, the judges proceed with the rebuttals now. Presented data by some parties have made the entourage in the courtroom progress towards a manoeuvre of remarkably swift portrayal.
11:25 hrs IST – As courtroom 4 attain epilogue with their proceedings, rebuttals and sur-rebuttals, the bench accords exquisite feedback to the teams on their rendition.
11:30 hrs IST – The bench in courtroom 18 instructed the participants about the exigency of fine skills involved in the process of mooting with the conclusion of the session.
11:35 hrs – With the closure of the Preliminary Rounds, everyone is eager to discover the results of the rounds. The applicant and respondent teams competed admirably, and it was indeed fascinating to watch this enthralling session.
After witnessing the zeal and the exuberant performance of the participants, we expressly divulge the preliminary round to have settled. The tireless diligence of all the teams was highly applaudable. Stay tuned with us as we look forward to gripping the Semi-Finals.

14:30 hrs – With vehemence and ardour, herein we unveil that the results for the Preliminary Rounds have been declared along with the ever-so-captivating and alluring draw of lots. Following this, we envisage a splendrous and prophesied Semi-Final Rounds.

16:00 hrs – The esteemed bench belonging to both the Semi-Final courtrooms have enumerated over the briefing sessions. Our admirable faculty members, Dr Bhavna Batra, Faculty Convenor and Dr Juliee Sharma, Faculty Co-convenor for AIM 2022 have protracted an extensive description of the forthcoming rounds and cognition over team memorials. It would have definitely fetched clarity and conception of the subject matter for our notable personage.
Semi-Final Rounds
16:30 hrs – Succeeding to the preliminary rounds where we are appreciative of having the fortuity of perceiving admirable conduction of eminent teams from across the globe, we are presently eager to perceive glimpses of the well-deserved qualifying teams compete against one another in the most anticipated round, the Semi-Finals. We congratulate all participants who advanced to this stage of the competition. The Semi-Final round has begun with great anticipation and ecstasy.
16:35 hrs – The petitioners have officially inducted the proceedings by putting their arguments before the bench. The rounds have embarked on a contentious path of tremendous determination and aspiration.
16:45 hrs – The bench in the Semi-final Courtroom B meticulously asked the speaker to elucidate his arguments. The speaker retorted the question with a lot of finesse and pellucidness.
16:55 hrs – The Bench has incessantly referred to the moot proposition through the extension of the arguments and further have exhorted Speaker 1 in Courtroom B to elaborate on his findings.
17:00 hrs – As the time runs out, Speaker 1 from Courtroom B expeditiously tries to wrap up his arguments. Under the instant circumstance, the Bench continues to question Speaker 1 profoundly.
17:10 hrs – In Courtroom A, Speaker 2 further upturns and ensures firm submissions. The bench constantly appertains to the proposition while the arguments are established.
17:15 hrs – In courtroom B, speaker 2 is espied encasing his arguments with a slew of questions from the judges and soliciting more time for clarification.
17:25 hrs – In Courtroom B, the Bench asks the speaker to appertain to the Memorial and therein, points out a discrepancy between the arguments being made in the oral benediction and the arguments mentioned vividly in the memorial. Thereafter, the defendant appealed the Bench to discard the submission ascertained contentions mentioned in the memorial and accept ONLY the oral submissions executed.
17:35 hrs – The speakers are arduous to entail their arguments explicitly at the earliest as only 1 minute is left to wind up the arguments.
17:45 hrs – Due to constraints in time, defendants In courtroom A have winched to speed up the submissions while the bench is continuously questioning on several scrupulous points.
17:55 hrs – After gracefully displaying their skills during the session, the speakers are diligently and patiently satisfying the queries of the judges.

18:10 hrs – After a fruitful round of arguments in the courtrooms, the teams are now moving on to a titillating and engrossing session of Rebuttal and Sur-Rebuttal rounds.
18:25 hrs – With the termination of proceedings, the session in the courtrooms has halted. The bench provides opulent insights, appreciates the perseverance of the participants and extends good wishes to them for the finals. Further, The judges bestow a handful of tips on how to go about a moot competition effectively. They gave recommendations on how teams should prepare to the foremost of their capabilities..
18:30 hrs – The battle came to a dramatic conclusion! The participants gave it their all, and I can still hear the echoes of their audacious claims.
With a watch-worthy factual court proceeding on this venerate event, we witnessed admirable Preliminary and Semi-Final Rounds. The participants showcased the best of their capabilities and honed their skills. The analytical and interpretation skills have been leveraged throughout. It was indeed a meritorious performance.
On this optimistic note, we bid adieu to Day 1 of the 12th Amity International Moot Court Competition, 2022. We are eager what is in store for the invigorating Day 2 to bring. Hold your breath, as we are ready for the Final Round & Valedictory Ceremony tomorrow!!!
DAY 2
Final Round
With the start of the gripping finals, the stage is set for a thrilling show of events. All the best!
We are extremely proud to have been graced by an International bench presiding over the proceedings. Our learned bench is profound on subjects of International Humanitarian Law and several other related subjects. We warmly welcome the esteemed adjudicators for the finals!
10:20 hrs – As the Final rounds commence of the 12th Amity International Moot Court Competition 2022, Dr Bhavna Batra, our Faculty Convenor, Amity International Moot Court Competition, introduced the bench to the teams and said:
“When the lion roars, everybody has to be vigilant”
“Nothing is predestined. The obstacles of your past can become the gateways that lead to new beginnings.”
10:30 hrs – As the clock hits “show time”, we have speaker one of the prosecution going in with categorical zeal and ardour.
10:40 hrs – As the submissions continue from the Prosecution side, the bench interrogates Speaker 1. The speaker continues to respond respectfully and with enthusiasm.
10:45 hrs – The display of benevolence by the bench expedites an augmentation of 15 seconds for the first speaker.

10:55 hrs – The counsel fine-tunes the closure to his arguments as the clock nods time for the second counsel to bring his arguments to the table.
11:10 hrs – As the carousel continues its motion, the second-in-command counsel acts like a peaceful warrior to convince the judges while he tries to tackle the questions thrown at him.

11:18 hrs- Speaker 2 of the Prosecution has been given an extension of a minute so that he can effectively articulate and respond to the catechism posed by the bench.
11:24 hrs – The defence wants to bring their A-Game to the surface, getting an extension of 1 minute 15 seconds in the beginning. It’s frenzied up here, to say the least. More calefaction on the other side.

11:35 hrs – As we oscillate to come to a judgement, the bench turns the tide by putting out pertinent questions pirouette around the interpretation of the law in the arguments brought to the table by the defence counsel.

11:50 hrs – The bench and the pleadings were concluded by Respondent 1 who was given an additional 1 min 45 secs as the Prosecution had been given the same time leverage.
12:00 hrs– The timer ticks along…The Bench tries to lighten the mood of the Courtroom by making a joke but also indirectly asks a relevant question to the Respondent Speaker 2. The Respondent understands the insinuated question and responds to the question seamlessly.
12:10 hrs – As the proceeding come to a final stage of what was a gritting day, the defence counsel is ready with her final submissions as she concludes her case in front of the esteemed bench.

12:15 hrs- Before the lights go out and the performers bow it out, the defence took a shot of needling another one with the hammer by demanding an additional minute. However, the effort goes uncounted and refused the same. We witness the rebuttals to have begun.
12:25 hrs- After an enthralling and distinctive championship knock-off, the proceedings have come to an end.
What we experienced in the last two days was a quintessence of sheer resilience, grit and determination.

VALEDICTORY CEREMONY
16:30 hrs- The valedictory ceremony is about to annunciate, marking the last segment of the two-day long, acute competition. The audience is prepared to acknowledge the participants’ dedication and camaraderie as the virtual stage is set.
For the moment we’ve been waiting for, the floor is ready. It’s time to start the Valedictory Ceremony for the 12th Amity International Moot Court Competition!

16:38 hrs – Our dignitaries, luminaries, faculty members, student committee and attendees have come together from various multiplex of careers to finally join the virtual platform to preside over the Valedictory Ceremony.
16:40 hrs- Prof Dr D K Bandopadhyay, Chairman, Amity Law School Noida, addressed and welcomed the esteem chair bearers for the day and showered words of motivation on students for their constant and diligent hard work, accoladed students for their immense hard work. He believes that Law is an important subject which supplements all other education. Law is important for the country to progress.
He throws light on our Founder Sir’s vision of wanting to make India a knowledge superpower and India’s Economy to go from being the 3rd to the 1st through education and information.
16:50 hrs- Hon’ble Justice Saurabh Banerjee, Judge, Delhi High Court states that Moot Court participation isn’t about winning or losing. Everyone is an achiever irrespective of if they win or lose. Moots build self-confidence. Mere participation is the best way to climb the ladder and become a lawyer eventually. It is like a stepping stone. It is a very broad horizon and everyone should avail the chance to participate in a moot court. Every Moot has a problem and the students come up with a solution. The solution may not be the best but every problem challenges the mind and every solution is a breakthrough. Hon’ble Justice Saurbh Banerjee congratulates all the participants and wishes them all the best and all the luck.
16:55 hrs- Hon’ble Justice Tara Vitasta Ganju, Judge, Delhi High Court addressed and extended her warm greetings to the esteemed judges and the faculty members. She applauded the endeavour of the students and their elucidation of the law, principally during the final round. She found it eminent within herself to speak about the topic at hand –
International criminal court and cyber warfare with reference to how the internet becomes a means to international crimes such as armed conflict, human rights violation and tampering with diplomatic relations.
She also accentuated the difference between International Criminal Law and Public international law. She mentioned how in the new age internet has become essential for managing lives, defined cyber warfare as an attack on our systems where elementary warfare has been expanded to include cyber warfare, State-sponsored cyber-warfare
She emphasised the need of the hour is to give arms and teeth to the international criminal court so that it strengthens their defence. Finally, She thanked the team members and the faculty before concluding.
17:10 hrs- Hon’ble Justice Sharad Kumar Sharma, Judge, Uttarakhand High Court addresses the valedictory by talking about how this Valedictory Ceremony can help us to interact with each other on a multiplicity of topics. He expresses his gratitude to the Bench as well as the Organizers. Justice Sharad believes that Moot Court events will not only help students to advance in Mooting but also make them aware of legal aptitude, brushing legal advocacy skills, persuasion skills, drafting skills, and legal research. It increases their confidence when they join the bar. After this competition, he hopes that the students get a taste of how moot courts function.
He says that Law Schools now venture into innovative ways to grasp the attention of the students and make them participate in exciting law-related fields. He further adds that it is imperative for the bench and the faculties of the colleges to make interactive sessions for all the universities so that they can exchange their thought processes.
Moot Court Competitions give the feel of what a court is about in a practical sense. There are various psychological aspects that one learns to deal with while Mooting. Moot Court Competitions help with handling such emotions. He thanks the organizers for having given him the opportunity to join the Valedictory session.
17:25 hrs- Hon’ble Justice Mr Rajiv Sahai Endlaw, Former Judge, Delhi High Court quotes that “Law is a study of human behaviour in each and every facet of life.” Gracing us with these words of wisdom, Justice Endlaw began his speech by warmly greeting the esteemed judges. He reminisced about his interactions with Dr Bhavna Batra, Convenor of the Moot Court Society, Amity Law school. He humoured how when a lawyer is appointed as a judge, it becomes a cinderella moment for him. Additionally, he pointed out many differences between his time in law school and the education culture in today’s time. While concluding, he enlightened the attendees with fine skills involved in the process of becoming an advocate such as analytical skills, reading between the lines and concentration.
17:35 hrs – Dr Bhavna Batra, Convenor, Moot Court Society, Amity Law School unveils the Souvenir and emphasises that mooting is an art to express advocacy. Mooting is the need of the hour and it facilitates team building. It hones the oratory and legal research skills and Moot Court Competitions are important for Law Students as it builds the student’s personality and guides them into being confident orators. She further says that students should increasingly participate in Moot Court Competitions so that they are trained into becoming exceptional lawyers. She further adds that all the participants were brilliant in their speeches and research.
17:45 hrs – Mr Sebastien Lafrance, President Championship Rounds, AIM 2022 explained the facts that every single contender was delighted with the Bench. The manners the speakers had were ready for court and they were so exceptional in the way they spoke that they could’ve walked into the court the very next day to address the Bench and the Justices.
17:50 hrs – The Runner ups and the Winners were respectfully requested to share their experiences. Both teams were delighted with the Moot Competition.
17:55 hrs – Finally, Dr Shefali Raizada, Additional director and Joint head, Amity Law School Noida, addresses the Vote of Thanks expressing her gratitude towards the participation of the Justices, Faculty members and the teams. She further showered words of appreciation towards the technical team for the smooth conduct of the Moot court competition. She concluded by thanking all the judges and dignitaries as well as encouraging students from law colleges across the world to keep up the spirit and enthusiasm of participation in moot courts.
18:00 hrs – The allured Valedictory Ceremony comes to a victorious halt.

With the conclusion of The Championship Rounds, venerate Valedictory Ceremony and most awaited Result Declaration, the second and last day of the admired and esteemed event comes to a denouement.
