On 01-12-2022, the Central Government has notified Central Motor Vehicles (Twenty-second Amendment) Rules, 2022 to amend the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989:

The amendment inserts a provision providing specific exemptions for Armoured Vehicles. It provides that every armoured vehicle shall comply with the standards laid down in these rules, subject to the exemptions specified in AIS-194:2022, as amended from time to time.

Note: “Armoured Vehicles” means a special purpose vehicle of category M and N which is intended for the protection of conveyed persons or goods with anti-bullet armour plating.
