We are extremely proud to share that our Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Nirmal Kanti Chakrabarti has been elected as the President of the Indian Society of Criminology (ISC).

The Indian Society of Criminology, established in the year 1970, is a pioneer organization in the field of crime and criminology in the nation. The society boasts a membership of hundreds of members, both from India and abroad, comprising of criminologists, sociologists, psychologists, politicians, advocates, judges, social workers, and academicians. By organising the various annual conferences, lectures, and other such events, the Society aims to further its objectives of effective detection and prevention of crime while engaging the society in implementing the criminological approach.

Upon his election as the President, Vice-Chancellor sir reflects on his journey with the ISC, “I joined as Member of Indian Society of Criminology in 1988 introduced by Justice Mukul Gopal Mukherjee. From 1989, I participated in several ISC conferences from 1989 and went on to become the Member of Executive Committee two times, and became a Fellow of the Society in 2001.”

After a journey of 34 glorious years, Prof. (Dr.) N.K. Chakrabarti has been elected as President of the ISC on 18th December, 2022 for his contributions in ISC and the development of Criminology in India.
