On 15-3-2023, the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare notified the Named Flours Grading and Marking Rules, 2023. The provisions came into effect on 15-3-2023.
Key Points:

Applicability: whole maize flour, rice flour, barley flour, urad flour, water chestnut flour, full fat soya flour and ragi flour.

The Grade designation mark should consist of the sign “AGMARK Insignia”, incorporating the certificate of authorization number, the word “AGMARK”, the name of commodity and its grade.

Schedules II to VIII will contain the grade designations indicating the quality of named flours and their criteria.

Packing:

should be done in accordance with the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards (Packaging) Regulations, 2018, the Food Safety and Standards (Labeling and Display) Regulations, 2020 and Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011.

The graded material of small pack sizes of the same lot or batch and grade should be packed in a master container with complete details.

Each package shall contain named flours of the same type and of the same grade designation.

Each package will have to be properly and securely closed and sealed to avoid spilling.

The Agricultural Marketing Advisor will approve the manner in which the grade designation mark has to be affixed to/ printed on each package. The following particulars should also be marked clearly on each package:
